Carbolite Gero Sponsors Sheffield Hallam University Racing Team

Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) Racing is an organisation founded and run by SHU students. Each year SHU Racing designs and builds an open wheel formula race car for the IMechE’s formula student event at the Silverstone race circuit.

Carbolite Gero have joined SHU Racing as a gold tier sponsor for the 2015/16 season.

As an employer of Sheffield Hallam University students for their year in industry placements Carbolite Gero is well known amongst the team. In fact, SHU Racing’s Class 1 team principle, Ciaran Eyre, and Class 2 deputy team principle, David O’Dea, are both former employees of Carbolite Gero.

SHU Racing’s Class 1 team principal, Ciaran Eyre, said “Carbolite Gero has shown through my industrial placement, my level 6 individual project and now Formula Student that it continually invests in students who they believe in. I am excited to be involved with Carbolite Gero through SHU-R, both David  and I are perfect examples of their student investment. This partnership demonstrates just how such placement opportunities in engineering can continue to benefit both the employer and students in years to follow”.

David O’Dea, Carbolite Gero’s year in industry placement student for 2014/15 said “It’s great to have Carbolite Gero working with SHU Racing” He went on to say that he’d like to thank Carbolite Gero for their continued investment in Sheffield Hallam University students and that he is looking forwards to continuing to work closely with the business.

Carbolite Gero’s UK manufacturing and sales site is based in the Hope Valley, Derbyshire, having operated in the Sheffield area since 1938. The UK facility specialises in the manufacture of both laboratory / industrial ovens and furnaces for temperatures up to 1800oC.

The team at SHU Racing would like to extend their thanks to everybody at Carbolite Gero for their investment in the team.
